The plot of the opera was chosen by the composer incredibly well, so much so that you can't imagine better. The main characters are young and beautiful, they are four young men and two girls: we know that they live independently, but poorly, a life full of dreams and hopes, and all the more attractive to the heart of the public, because she loves to fantasize and cry about small things. sorrows (although what difference does it make whether they are small or large?). In addition, the opera is beautifully intertwined with funny and satirical scenes from Parisian life that balance the sad and nostalgic: for example, one of the two couples in love, Musetta and Marcel, often get into an altercation in order to better set off the other couple, Mimi and Rudolf, who are the center drama.

 

Each corner of the opera has its own unique atmosphere - small attics where artists and intellectuals live or the bustling Latin Quarter of Paris. And it's a little miracle that Puccini creates all sorts of combinations. In addition to the late Romantic orchestration, rich in visual effects, airy, clean or exploding like fireworks, we should note the repeated empty chords in the spirit of Stravinsky's insistent archaism, Gregorian melopies, transparency of instrumentation and dynamics in imitation of Eastern music.

 

This colorful atmosphere breathes youth, is full of ardor with which our heroes cast their glances at each other, joyful or sad, and permeates all times with its sensuality.
