Giacomo Puccini's La bohème is one of the great opera classics. The story of the poor, young bohemians offers romance, drama, great emotions and really, really wonderful music.

Six young people live bohemian life in 19th century Paris: a poet, an artist, a philosopher, a musician, a seamstress and a singer. They have great thoughts about the beautiful arts and the romantic love and dream of a life where they can love and create in freedom.

But the gray reality does not really look like their rose-shimmering castle in the air. They get nothing sold and are in fact lice pans. They live in poverty and cold. How will they get money for food and rent? And how will they make love survive through hunger, misery and disease? The brief moments of inspired creation, new love and happy partying may soon give way to the realities of life and the tragedy that inevitably approaches.

Our tour version is directed by Sara Cronberg, who was recently awarded the Thalia Prize and a prize from the Swedish Theater Critics' Association. Franciska Zahle's costumes breathe 19th century but at the same time bring to mind today's artistic bohemians. She also designs the scenography, where Bombina Bombast adds light and artistic projections.
