опери Дж. Б. Перголезі «Служниця пані» (La Serva Padrona) незвичайно щаслива сценічна доля. Коли двадцятитрьохлітній композитор з Неаполю створював інтермеццо до своєї опери-серіа «Гордий бранець» (два комічні номери, які виконувалися між діями трьохактної опери), він, безумовно, не сподівався, що саме ця інтермедія «Служниця-пані» перевершить за популярністю усі написані ним твори і принесе йому гучний успіх і славу родоначальника нового жанру – італійської комічної опери-буфа.

Джованні Баттіста Перголезі народився 4 січня 1710 року в Йезі (провінція Анкона), де навчався музики у Франческо Сантіні. У 13 років талановитий юнак вступає до неаполітанської консерваторії «Dei poveri di Gesu Cristo» (Господа бідних Ісуса Христа) – притулку для дітей-сиріт, де навчався у видатних композиторів і педагогів свого часу – Гаетано Греко, Франческо Дуранте – композиції, у Доменіко Маттеі – грі на скрипці. У 1731 році, ще студентом, Перголезі написав духовну драму «Святий Вільгельм Аквітанський», яку з успіхом виконали у монастирі Санта Аньєзе Маджоре. У тому ж році у неаполітанському театрі була поставлена його перша опера-серіа «Салюстія».

За дуже короткий творчий шлях (композитор помер у 26 років) Джованні Перголезі написав значну кількість творів різних жанрів: десять опер-серіа і опер-буфа, серед них «Олімпіада», «Адріан у Сирії», «Фламініо», «Закоханий монах», музику до комедій «Маестро музики», «Покараний ревнивець», а також духовні твори: ораторії, меси, кантати Маgnificat і Stabat Mater, «Salve Regina», більше тридцяти тріо-сонат, оперні симфонії й увертюри (так тоді називали оркестрові твори, які виконували перед оперною виставою), скрипковий концерт.

На початку XVIII ст. на театральних сценах Європи домінував жанр опери-серіа – «серйозної опери». В основі лібрето використовували сюжет з античної міфології. Свої почуття персонажі виражали через віртуозні арії, демонструючи унікальні можливості голосу, уміння імпровізувати. Опера нагадувала «концерт у костюмах». Щоб розважити публіку в антрактах, між актами великих опер виконували інтермедію. По суті, це була невеличка комічна опера, яку вирізняв розважальний сюжет, дійові особи, на противагу античним героям – звичайні люди з повсякденними, земними бажаннями. Глядачів приваблювали безпосередність і реалістичність характерів головних персонажів, веселі і прості мелодії арій, інтонаційно близькі до народних пісень, веселі перипетії, колоритні діалоги, сповнені народного гумору, що продовжували традиції народної комедії масок (commedia dell’arte).

28 серпня 1733 року у театрі Сан-Бартоломео відбулася прем’єра опери-серіа «Гордий бранець» Дж. Б. Перголезі з інтермедією «Служниця-пані» на лібрето Дж. А. Федеріко. «Гордий бранець» провалився, а от інтермедія мала величезний успіх. Незабаром «Служницю-пані» почали виконувати окремо як одноактну комедію. У центрі комедії – образ симпатичної розумниці-служниці, яка зуміла закохати в себе свого хазяїна, щасливо влаштувати свою долю. Музичний критик Франко Аббатіні писав, що опера «Служниця-пані» нагадує чарівну скриньку, наповнену веселими сюрпризами, це – коштовне зібрання вокальних тем з особливим благородним блиском.

«Служниця-пані» отримала популярність не тільки в Італії. Після того, як вона була перекладена французькою мовою, опера витримала майже 200 вистав у Парижі (1752). «Служниця-пані» завоювала всю Європу. Цікаво, що саме ця комічна опера Дж.Б. Перголезі поклала початок музично-естетичній полеміці з питань розвитку оперного мистецтва, так званій «війні буфонів», викликавши запеклі суперечки між консервативними прихильниками старої французької опери (серед яких були такі корифеї жанру, як Люллі і Рамо) і представниками прогресивної французької інтелігенції епохи Просвітництва (зокрема, Дені Дідро, Жан-Жак Руссо, Фрідріх Мельхіор Грімм), які вбачали в опері «Служниця-пані» вираження нових музично-естетичних ідеалів та ратували за реформування оперного мистецтва, що давало імпульс появі на сцені реалістичних героїв і звичних у житті ситуацій.

J. B. Pergolesi's opera "La Serva Padrona" (La Serva Padrona) has an unusually happy stage fate. When the twenty-three-year-old composer from Naples created the intermezzo for his opera seria "The Proud Prisoner" (two comic numbers that were performed between the acts of the three-act opera), he certainly did not expect that this very interlude "The Lady's Maid" would surpass in popularity all the others he had written his works will bring him resounding success and fame as the founder of a new genre - the Italian comic opera-buffa.

Giovanni Battista Pergolesi was born on January 4, 1710 in Yeza (province of Ancona), where he studied music with Francesco Santini. At the age of 13, the talented young man entered the Neapolitan conservatory "Dei poveri di Gesu Cristo" (Lord of the Poor Jesus Christ) - a shelter for orphans, where he studied with the outstanding composers and teachers of his time - Gaetano Greco, Francesco Durante - composition, Domenico Mattei - playing the violin. In 1731, while still a student, Pergolesi wrote the spiritual drama "Saint William of Aquitaine", which was successfully performed in the monastery of Santa Agnese Maggiore. In the same year, his first opera series Salustia was staged in the Neapolitan theater.

In a very short creative career (the composer died at the age of 26), Giovanni Pergolesi wrote a significant number of works of various genres: ten opera seria and opera buffa, among them "Olympiad", "Hadrian in Syria", "Flaminio", "The Monk in Love" , music for the comedies "The Maestro of Music", "The Punished Jealous", as well as spiritual works: oratorios, masses, cantatas Magnificat and Stabat Mater, "Salve Regina", more than thirty trio sonatas, opera symphonies and overtures (as orchestral works were called then , which were performed before the opera performance), violin concerto.

At the beginning of the 18th century the genre of opera seria - "serious opera" - dominated the theater stages of Europe. The libretto was based on a plot from ancient mythology. The characters expressed their feelings through virtuoso arias, demonstrating the unique capabilities of the voice and the ability to improvise. The opera resembled a "concert in costumes." To entertain the audience during intermissions, interludes were performed between the acts of major operas. In fact, it was a small comic opera, which was distinguished by an entertaining plot, actors, in contrast to ancient heroes - ordinary people with everyday, earthly desires. The audience was attracted by the immediacy and realism of the characters of the main characters, cheerful and simple melodies of arias, intonationally close to folk songs, cheerful vicissitudes, colorful dialogues full of folk humor, which continued the traditions of the folk comedy of masks (commedia dell'arte).

On August 28, 1733, the premiere of the opera series "The Proud Prisoner" by J. B. Pergolesi with the interlude "The Lady Maid" to the libretto by J. A. Federico took place at the San Bartolomeo Theater. "The Proud Prisoner" failed, but the interlude was a huge success. Soon, "The Lady's Maid" began to be performed separately as a one-act comedy. At the center of the comedy is the image of a pretty intelligent maid who managed to make her master fall in love with her and happily arrange her destiny. Music critic Franco Abbatini wrote that the opera "The Lady Maid" resembles a magical box filled with fun surprises, it is a precious collection of vocal themes with a special noble brilliance.

"Maid-maid" gained popularity not only in Italy. After it was translated into French, the opera endured almost 200 performances in Paris (1752). "Maid-maid" conquered all of Europe. It is interesting that this comic opera by J.B. Pergolesi initiated a musical and aesthetic polemic on the development of opera art, the so-called "war of buffoons", causing fierce disputes between conservative supporters of the old French opera (among whom were such luminaries of the genre as Lully and Rameau) and representatives of the progressive French intelligentsia of the Enlightenment ( in particular, Denis Diderot, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Friedrich Melchior Grimm), who saw the expression of new musical and aesthetic ideals in the opera "The Lady Maid" and advocated the reformation of opera art, which gave impetus to the appearance on the stage of realistic characters and situations familiar in life .
