The opera "Love Potion" was written by Donizetti in two weeks and is the fortieth in his work. The composer was only 34 years old when he wrote it. Nemorino's legendary romance "Una furtiva lagrima" had already been composed by Donizetti and was just waiting for a suitable opera, he had to persuade the librettist to write suitable words for a long time to add it to the score.

The premiere took place on May 12, 1832 at the Teatro Canobbiana in Milan. The Milanese audience liked this work so much that it was staged 32 times in one season.

Short description

You are overwhelmed with romantic love feelings, but a pretty girl does not reciprocate? No problem. Dr. Dulcamara will tell you about a miraculous elixir, the recipe of which is very simple.
The action of the "love potion" was tested on Adina. And it was like this. The peasant boy Nemorino could not achieve the location of the beauty Adina. But as soon as he tried the elixir of love of Dr. Dulcamara, everything around changed, Adina immediately fell in love with Nemorino and herself wished to marry him.
