The premiere of the opera (in the first edition) took place in Vienna in 1842, the premiere of the second edition - in the same year in Paris. In Russia, it was first performed by artists of the Italian entreprise in Odessa in 1844.

It was also presented at the Bolshoi Theater for the first time by an Italian opera troupe - in 1845, and then for a quarter of a century it appeared only twice more (the last time - in 1871). Later, like other operas by Bellini and Donizetti, Linda di Chamouni disappeared from the repertoire of the Bolshoi Theater for a long time.

This story combines the favorite motifs of Italian opera librettos of the bel canto era. The plot, tailored according to the best models (librettist G. Rossi borrowed it from the melodrama "God's Grace" by A.F. d'Ennery and G. Lumoine), became the basis for one of the most beautiful and popular operas of the 19th century. Her music is a series of heartfelt solo and ensemble numbers designed to be performed by a sextet of soloists led by a soprano prima donna, for whom the most complex coloratura part was written.

And in our time, when forgotten names are increasingly appearing on posters, Linda di Chamouni is still a rare guest on the stage. The reason is that it is not so easy to find a worthy performing staff and, above all, Linda herself.

After a century and a half, Linda nevertheless returned to the Bolshoi. At the premiere, Venera Gimadieva, a recognized bel canto performer, world star and graduate of the Bolshoi Theater Youth Opera Program, performed in the title role.

The Alpine village of Chamouni in the sun, the soothing ringing of church bells, the song of the Savoyard to the accompaniment of a hurdy-gurdy - and the aristocratic Parisian salon with basil roofs in the window ... All these picturesque paintings become the backdrop for a touching story about the village beauty Linda and her lover, Viscount Charles de Cirval who pretended to be a poor artist; stories of love and betrayal, Linda's madness and her miraculous recovery. To everyone's rejoicing in the finale, Charles asks Linda to become his wife.

In the current stage version, Big Linda lives in her own world. The picture of the rural pastoral, against which Linda exists, is the image painted by her beloved Charles. She thinks of everything, she is a dreamer. Unlike many heroines of romantic operas, she goes into the world of her fantasies without killing anyone, destroying anything or dying. In her imagination, Linda is happy with her betrothed. And then, when the picture that is in her head matches up with real life, she suddenly begins to see clearly. And the pastoral comes alive in reality.

Премьера оперы (в первой редакции) состоялась в Вене в 1842 году, премьера второй редакции – в том же году в Париже. В России она впервые прозвучала в исполнении артистов итальянской антрепризы в Одессе в 1844-м.

В Большом театре также была представлена впервые итальянской оперной труппой – в 1845-м и затем на протяжении четверти века появлялась ещё только дважды (в последний раз – в 1871 году). Позже, как и другие оперы Беллини и Доницетти, «Линда ди Шамуни» надолго исчезла из репертуара Большого театра.

В этой истории соединились любимые мотивы итальянских оперных либретто эпохи бельканто. Сюжет, скроенный согласно лучшим образцам (либреттист Г. Росси заимствовал его из мелодрамы «Божья милость» А.Ф. д’Эннери и Г. Лумуана), стал основой для одной из самых красивых и популярных опер XIX столетия. Её музыка представляет собой ряд проникновенных сольных и ансамблевых номеров, предназначенных для исполнения секстетом солистов во главе с примадонной – сопрано, для которой написана сложнейшая колоратурная партия.

И в наше время, когда на афишах всё чаще появляются забытые названия, «Линда ди Шамуни» – по-прежнему редкая гостья на театральных подмостках. Причина в том, что не так легко найти достойный исполнительский состав и прежде всего – саму Линду.

Спустя полтора столетия «Линда» всё-таки вернулась в Большой. На премьере в заглавной партии выступила Венера Гимадиева, признанная исполнительница репертуара бельканто, мировая звезда – и выпускница Молодёжной оперной программы Большого театра.

Альпийская деревня Шамуни в солнечных лучах, умиротворяющий звон церковных колоколов, песня савояра под аккомпанемент колесной лиры – и аристократический парижский салон с крышами базилик в окне… Все эти живописные картины становятся фоном для трогательной истории о деревенской красавице Линде и её возлюбленном, виконте Шарле де Сирвале, выдававшем себя за бедного художника; истории о любви и предательстве, безумии Линды и её чудесном исцелении. Ко всеобщему ликованию в финале Шарль просит Линду стать его женой.

В нынешней сценической версии Большого Линда живёт в своём мире. Картина деревенской пасторали, на фоне которой существует Линда, – это образ, нарисованный её возлюбленный Шарль. Она всё придумывает, она фантазёрка. В отличие от многих героинь романтических опер она уходит в мир своих фантазий, никого не убивая, ничего не разрушая и не умирая. В своём воображении Линда счастлива вместе со своим суженым. А потом, когда картинка, которая есть в её голове, совпадает с реальной жизнью, она внезапно прозревает. И пастораль оживает в реальности.
