A story about being human Join "The Man" and "The Woman" on an existential journey through events in a visionary reimagining of the Bible's stories. They observe, listen and reflect. Whats the point? Life and death. The book of life asks the big questions. Welcome to an entire evening filled with poetry and strong stories with 22 of the Nordic region's foremost opera singers in the nearly 40 different roles with characters drawn from the Bible's rich gallery of characters. The Book of Life is an all-night opera in three acts. The world premiere will be a dramatized concert version. The work is written for large orchestra, choir and a large number of larger and smaller solo parts. Don't miss this opportunity to be part of something truly unique - one of the autumn's big music events in Sweden! Listen to the latest episode of the musician podcast Musiker i micken, which is an interview with Tobias Ringborg about the project. Sven-David Sandström (1942-2019), born in Östergötland, is undoubtedly one of the most significant Swedish composers of the 20th century. His large output includes everything from symphonies and chamber music to church music and operas. In his last years, Sven-David Sandström worked on an opera to a libretto by Niklas Rådström, based on his novel The Book from 2013. Niklas Rådström's novel The Book spans thousands of years and is like no other, except the most widely distributed book in the world. It is a bold and visionary reimagining of the biblical books.
