Two death masses in one concert – and two unparalleled examples of how the final, clarifying music of mortal life becomes a divine tribute to life itself.
Music for death – and for life. A requiem is a mass of death, but in its beauty the music becomes as much a tribute to life. It is here that man comes face to face with his god; either in death or in the loss of a loved one. It makes a requiem a great spiritual as well as musical experience.

With Duruflé and Fauré, we come through the whole spectrum of human experience, concentrated in the relentless prism of death.

These are two very human works; they are spiritual rather than religious, although they are based on Christian texts. Both of them offer a peaceful, settled acceptance of the finality of life - and a more beautiful reconciliation with death cannot be imagined.

Musik til døden – og til livet. Et rekviem er en dødsmesse, men i sin skønhed bliver musikken i lige så høj grad en hyldest til livet. Det er her, mennesket står ansigt til ansigt med sin gud; enten i døden eller i tabet af en elsket. Det gør et rekviem til en stor åndelig såvel som musikalsk oplevelse.

Hos Duruflé og Fauré kommer vi gennem hele spektret af den menneskelige erfaring, koncentreret i dødens ubarmhjertige prisme.

Det er to meget menneskelige værker; de er åndelige snarere end religiøse, selvom de bygger på kristne tekster. Begge tilbyder de en fredfyldt, afklaret accept af livets endeligt – og en smukkere forsoning med døden kan man ikke forestille sig.
