At the April 21 concert, the orchestra's chief guest conductor Kristina Poska and the LNSO will give the audience a performance of the energetic symphonic opus Chordae by the contemporary Estonian composer Ilo Krigula , and with the participation of the great cellist Kristaps Berg, they will perform the tense Cello Concerto by the Polish composer Witold Lutoslavska. Brahms, on the other hand, was already 43 years old when his First Symphony was premiered. He was undeniably a harsh self-critic and claimed that from the beginning of composing to the final revisions, work on the First took place over a period of 21 years. He once told his friend that he would never compose a symphony, because "how can it be done when a giant like Beethoven composed before us?" And yet - today we have both nine outstanding examples of Beethoven's symphony genre

21. aprīļa koncertā orķestra galvenā viesdiriģente Kristīna Poska un LNSO klausītājiem sniegs mūsdienu igauņu komponista Ilo Krigula enerģiski spēcīgā simfoniskā opusa Chordae atskaņojumu, un ar lieliskā čellista Kristapa Berga dalību izpildīs poļu komponista Vitolda Lutoslavska spriego Čellkoncertu. Savukārt Brāmsam bija jau 43 gadi, kad pirmatskaņojumu piedzīvoja viņa Pirmā simfonija. Viņš nenoliedzami bija skarbs paškritiķis un apgalvoja, ka kopš komponēšanas sākuma līdz pēdējiem labojumiem, darbs pie Pirmās noritējis 21 gada garumā. Reiz viņš savam draugam sacījis, ka nekad nekomponēs simfoniju, jo “kā gan tas izdarāms, ja pirms mums komponējis tāds milzis kā Bēthovens?” Un tomēr – šodien mums ir gan deviņi izcili Bēthovena, gan četri – paškritiskā Brāmsa – simfonijas žanra paraugi.
