On the beach, Telemachus, son of Ulysses, awaits his father's return. He is joined by a group of children, probably also the children of sailors who have left. With Mentor, the leader of the gang, and Athena, a very young goddess, they console Telemachus. They play, sing and invent the exploits - but also the failures - of their fathers. Together, helped by fiction, they learn to grow up. Told at children's eye level, the epic of Ulysses becomes an extraordinary musical playground.
Presentation
The young composer Jules Matton and the Rennes director David Gauchard rush here with greed, surrounded by singers but also by the famous Debussy quartet, always ready for the most intrepid scenic adventures. They offer a special place on stage to the children of the Maîtrise de Bretagne and the Clotilde Vautier college with which the Rennes Opera is twinned.
