The young singer Lola Blau left Austria, which had succumbed to fascism, emigrated to America and became famous there. Back in Vienna after the end of the war, she tells of the lowlands of American show business, of alcohol, of love and the absurd excesses of anti-Semitism, deals with her Judaism and fears the unteachable, the old and new Nazis in the country.
The cabaret songs by the well-known all-round genius Georg Kreisler, which are as tragic as they are comedic, transport a whole time and wrap black humor around the age-old longing for happiness.
