In 1987, Louis Sclavis released the album China. His first as a leader, at the controls of a group of crazy heads with nimble hands, serving an energizing cocktail of jazz and transfigured folklore. Thirty-six years later, this nomad who likes to move forward by rebounds and echoes enriches his imaginary atlas with “India”. Gathering around him the fine team of his album “Characters on a Wall” (Sarah Murcia on double bass, Benjamin Moussay on piano, Christophe Lavergne on drums) and trumpeter Olivier Laisney, he announces a bouquet “of melodies and ambiences sustained by persistent pulsations and rhythms”. With, always, this poetic desire to scramble the cards: “In India I saw a theater on the docks, long trains, I have in mind the first ascent of K2… I want to hear the sounds of a place distant more invented than real.”

En 1987, Louis Sclavis sort l’album Chine. Son premier en tant que leader, aux commandes d’un groupe de têtes folles aux mains agiles, servant un cocktail énergisant de jazz et de folklores transfigurés. Trente-six ans après, ce nomade qui aime aller de l’avant par rebonds et échos enrichit son atlas imaginaire avec “India”. Rassemblant autour de lui la fine équipe de son album “Characters on a Wall” (Sarah Murcia à la contrebasse, Benjamin Moussay au piano, Christophe Lavergne à la batterie) et le trompettiste Olivier Laisney, il annonce un bouquet “de mélodies et d’ambiances soutenues par des pulsations et rythmes obstinés”. Avec, toujours, ce désir poétique de brouiller les cartes : “J’ai vu en Inde un théâtre sur les docks, de longs trains, j’ai en tête la première ascension du K2… Je souhaite faire entendre les sons d’un lieu lointain plus inventé que réel.”
