But in politics they find competition instead of cooperation and are confronted with the mechanisms of power - from voting to intrigue. When Luise allows her to be played off against Marie, Marie goes into opposition, which does not end even after the excursion into politics has long since ended. For the jury A twin symbiosis of text and music, direction and production is the siren opera theater that Kristine Tornquist and Jury Everhartz have been running together for twelve years. He is a composer and conductor, she is a librettist, visual artist and director. In the current production, too, Tornquist is responsible for both the script and the direction. For the second time - after the opera Der Heinrich aus der Hölle - she has now cooperated with Gernot Schedlberger, among other things the composer of a number of operas, ballets, and theatrical music, who says about himself: New things are alien to me. This also has to do with my practical relevance as a répétiteur and conductor. According to Tornquist, the chamber opera MarieLuise, which Schedlberger will conduct himself, is a nasty experimental set-up: It's about two Siamese twins who are full of ideals and want to implement them by going into politics. And they fail gloriously. In addition to the pair of twins, who are being crushed by internal party and personal struggles, there is a spin doctor and other doctors who ultimately surgically separate the pair of twins, or reporters from cheap newspapers called, for example, Daily Today. Schedlberger was immediately interested in the material and in the resulting libretto. It is not only about the political problems of the Siamese twins, but also about their personal relationship, the problem when certain mechanisms in the press become independent, and medical ethics. How far can a doctor go? So there are quite a few questions and storylines that are interwoven. Musically, the composer reacted to the two twins with the same line-up with two mezzo-sopranos, who find equivalents from twelve instruments in the chamber orchestra. Two bass clarinets form a pair situation, in the musical structure there are often two groups of instruments or two rhythms that work against each other. So the sarcastic operation can begin.
