Music crosses centuries and continents – singing with the birds and dancing on the breezes. All it takes is a voice and a lute, in a concert that travels from Renaissance Venice to modern Mexico, taking in tangos, showtunes and songs of courtly love. It’s a kaleidoscope of colour, fantasy and emotion, in which the only constant is the human heart.

And, of course, the talent of these two remarkable artists. Lutenist Sergio Bucheli is as at home in the 17th century as he is in the 21st. Soprano Ruby Hughes has been praised by critics as one of the most vital and original voices of our time. For her though, it’s all about communication, in music that she describes as 'sometimes tragic and full of woe, or overflowing with elation and an otherworldly sense of the spiritual.'
