April 22, 2022 is Earth Day. We celebrate the blue planet, but at the same time we must and want to draw attention to the growing dangers to our world. One of the most alarming threats is the climate crisis. The RSB deals with the topic of climate change in dialogue with the Institute for Transformative Sustainability Research in Potsdam (IASS). The musicians of the RSB, above all the chief conductor Vladimir Jurowski, are aware of their own position on the subject and offer suitable forms of musical expression. Composers from all eras have already dealt with the relationship between humans and their environment and in their music they have described the beauty of nature, which is being lost more and more due to man-made climate change. Transience, destruction, but also hope.

"Mensch, Musik!" is a new series of four concerts in the main broadcasting hall of the Haus des Rundfunks, which uses music and interdisciplinary art elements to deal with socially relevant topics.
