Il Nabucco (Nabucodonosor) è la terza opera di Verdi e quella che lo consacrò definitivamente come un grande compositore. Messa in scena alla Scala di Milano nel 1842, racconta della riscossa degli ebrei sotto il giogo dei babilonesi e del conflitto tra il re Nabucodonosor, la sua presunta figlia Abigaille e Fenena, la figlia autentica del re. L'opera era stata a Sassari in precedenza nel 1995, prima ancora nel 1982 e, per trovare un'edizione precedente, bisogna tornare più di un secolo indietro nel tempo (apparve a Sassari nel 1846). L'edizione del 2012, che si rivelò un buon successo per pubblico e critica, fu una collaborazione con l'Ente Lirico di Cagliari.

The Nabucco ( Nabucodonosor ) is Verdi's third opera and the one that definitively consecrated him as a great composer. Staged at the Scala in Milan in 1842, it tells of the revival of the Jews under the yoke of the Babylonians and the conflict between King Nebuchadnezzar, his presumed daughter Abigaille and Fenena, the true daughter of the king. The work had been in Sassari earlier in 1995, even earlier in 1982 and, to find a previous edition, one has to go back more than a century back in time (it appeared in Sassari in 1846). The 2012 edition, which proved to be a good success for audiences and critics alike, was a collaboration with the Ente Lirico di Cagliari.
