Theater Lübeck »NIGHT & DAY«

Cole Porter is one of the most popular American composers of the 20th century. Practically all the great vocal interpreters have sung his hits and are still reinterpreting them today: "I've got you under my skin", "Night and Day", "Begin the Beguine" and hundreds more. Nevertheless, Cole Porter is rarely heard on German stages because hardly a piece (apart from "Kiss me Kate") is played by him. His life alternated between wealth, success, hidden homosexuality and serious illness; a biography musical about Cole Porter would be easy.
Lübeck approaches Cole Porter differently, with an homage, not only to the composer, but also to the brilliant lyricist who breaks social conventions with clever, funny and frivolous texts and gives people freedom of thought, feeling and before with text and music offers everything of love. Our stage is Broadway. A new program is being rehearsed, with all the madness that such a situation brings with it: chaos, madness and conflict. Every argument becomes a song, every defeat becomes a finale, every feeling gives rise to a dance. (Michael Wallner)
