Nostalgia Verdi

How can we breathe new life into Verdi’s early works? This ambitious, two-part production brings together musical highlights from twelve operas by the Italian maestro to tell a new story. We meet three friends during two key years of their lives: the protest year of 1968 and a reunion forty years later. Separated by time but linked by their shared past, they take stock of what remains of the unrest, violence and idealism of their youthful years, and try to uncover the truth behind an unsolved mystery. This results in two opera evenings – Nostalgia and Rivoluzione – full of sparkling arias, choral parts and overtures that you, the audience, can watch in the order you wish.
