Let the Sunshine In“ – diesem lebensfrohen Aufruf aus dem Musical Hair folgend steht der Opernball 2024 ganz im Zeichen der bunten und wilden 1960er Jahre. Die Staatsoper Hannover lädt ein zu einem alle Sinne ansprechenden Trip in die Zeit von Woodstock und Flower Power, von „Make Love Not War“ und „I Have a Dream“. An zwei Abenden im Februar verwandelt sich das Opernhaus in ein verspieltes Festivalgelände, mit dem Lebensgefühl der Hippie-Kultur und dem farbenfrohen und freiheitsliebenden Spirit des „Summer of Love“. Die musikalische Vielfalt der Epoche inspiriert das künstlerische Programm und den Soundtrack des Abends. „Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair!“

Neu ist in diesem Jahr nicht nur das Motto: Erstmals führt die Staatsoper Hannover günstige Late Night Tickets für Nachtschwärmer:innen ein, die ab 23 Uhr den Ball besuchen möchten. Es wird zudem Ermäßigungen für Menschen mit Behinderungen geben, auch wenn das Opernhaus nach wie vor leider nicht barrierefrei ist. Die traditionelle Balleröffnung mit der Tanzschule Bothe erhält ein Update und wird in das farbenfrohe Gesamtkonzept eingebunden. Ebenfalls neu: Es wird einen Outfit-Wettbewerb geben.

“Let the Sunshine In” – following this cheerful call from the musical Hair, the 2024 Opera Ball is all about the colorful and wild 1960s. The Hanover State Opera invites you to a trip that appeals to all the senses into the era of Woodstock and Flower Power, of “Make Love Not War” and “I Have a Dream”. On two evenings in February, the opera house is transformed into a playful festival area, with the attitude to life of hippie culture and the colorful and freedom-loving spirit of the “Summer of Love”. The musical diversity of the era inspires the evening's artistic program and soundtrack. “Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair!”

It’s not just the motto that’s new this year: for the first time, the Hanover State Opera is introducing cheap late night tickets for night owls who want to attend the ball from 11 p.m. There will also be discounts for people with disabilities, even though the opera house is unfortunately still not barrier-free. The traditional ball opening with the Bothe dance school will receive an update and will be integrated into the colorful overall concept. Also new: There will be an outfit competition.
