The Teatro Real, RTVE and Hispasat have joined in an ambitious audiovisual project that will allow filming, broadcasting and recording in 4K technology (Ultra High Definition-UHD), with a resolution four times higher than conventional high definition, some of the productions of the Madrid stage. The feature of 'Parsifal', by Richard Wagner, on April 21, 2016 was broadcast in tests to the Kinépolis cinemas and through the Hipasat 30W-4 satellite, as well as by DTT in the DVB-T2 test multiplex that is broadcast in Madrid (Zona Universitaria, channel 44) and in Barcelona (Torre de Collserola, channel 22). The Royal Theater thus becomes the first opera house in Spain, and one of the first in Europe, to use 4K production as a popularizing element of culture.
