Peter, a young boy, lives in the country with his grandfather. One day he leaves the garden door open. The duck takes the opportunity to go swimming in the nearby pond. She gets into an argument with a bird (“What kind of bird are you if you cannot fly?” - “What kind of bird are you if you cannot swim?”). A cat sneaks up on it and the bird, warned by Peter, escapes into a tree. Peter's grumpy grandfather brings him back into the garden and closes the gate because the wolf might come. Shortly afterwards the wolf actually comes out of the forest ...
