The Teatro Comunale of Modena has commissioned Sandro Cappelletto and Matteo D'Amico, two of the greatest Italian composers of contemporary opera theatre, a new opera on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Pier Paolo Pasolini. Starting from one of his most illuminating texts on our current situation, librettist and composer stage the prophecy of a new man, son of the integration of peoples.
Among numerous other operatic scores Matteo D'Amico composed The Window on Kensington Gardens represented at the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna and at the Teatro Olimpico in Rome, Damned epicurean , with a libretto by Sandro Cappelletto, for the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Lavinia fugata, from a story by Anna Banti for the Teatro Comunale of Modena, Pact of blood , again with Cappelletto for the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Festival, Le Malentendu for the Sferisterio Opera Festival of Macerata. In the field of productions intended for the orchestra, we recall Le creatures di Ade , conducted by Daniele Gatti with the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Flight from Byzantium commissioned by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Vladimir Jurovski and Veni veni Mephostophilis commissioned by the Academy of Santa Cecilia and directed by Antonio Pappano
