«Artiste étoile» Golda Schultz, die ihren schönen Vornamen der israelischen Premierministerin Golda Meir verdankt, ist eine Künstlerin, die über den Tellerrand der eigenen Disziplin hinausblickt. Selbst wollte sie ursprünglich Journalistin werden, aber auch als Opernstar engagiert sie sich in gesellschaftlichen oder politischen Fragen, etwa für die Initiative «Opera for Peace», und zeigt sich meinungsfreudig. Die Britin Rebecca Clarke und die Französin Nadia Boulanger stehen für die frühe Moderne, und mit der 1977 geborenen Kathleen Tagg stellt Golda Schultz eine Komponistin vor, die wie sie selbst aus Südafrika stammt.
