This season, through the operas and symphonic concerts programmed in the main hall, we discover the young and talented artists of the Lyon Opéra Studio  : the Italian-German Giulia Scopelliti, the South African Thandiswa Mpongwana, the Briton Robert Lewis, the Polish Pawel Trojak and Thai Pete Thanapat! The Opéra Underground welcomes them for a series of recitals with piano at the Amphi: the opportunity to discover them in the intimacy of the place, the melody, the song.

Robert Lewis grew up on a farm in Wales and if he hadn't become a singer, he probably would have been a farmer. In Wales there is a strong tradition of folk singing and he started singing when he was 4 years old. He likes to take long walks in the countryside with his dog. He plays rugby and loves food and wine, a passion he shares with his hero Pavarotti – so much so that he recently passed an international oenology exam. What he loves on stage is above all this raw emotion.

Cette saison, au fil des opéras et concerts symphoniques programmés dans la grande salle, on découvre les jeunes et talentueux artistes du Lyon Opéra Studio : l’Italo-Allemande Giulia Scopelliti, la Sud-Africaine Thandiswa Mpongwana, le Britannique Robert Lewis, le Polonais Pawel Trojak et le Thaïlandais Pete Thanapat ! L’Opéra Underground les accueille pour une série de récitals avec piano à l’Amphi : l’occasion de les découvrir dans l’intimité du lieu, de la mélodie, de la chanson.

Robert Lewis a grandi dans une ferme au Pays de Galles et s'il n’était pas devenu chanteur, il aurait probablement été fermier. Au Pays de Galles, il y a une importante tradition de chants populaires et il a commencé à chanter à l’âge de 4 ans. Il aime faire de longues promenades dans la campagne avec son chien. Il joue au rugby et est amateur de gastronomie et de vin, passion qu'il partage avec son héros Pavarotti – au point qu'il a passé récemment un examen international d’œnologie. Ce qu'il aime sur scène, c’est surtout cette émotion à l’état brut.
