"The most important thing I've done in my life" - jazz legend Duke Ellington left no doubt about the importance of the second Sacred Concert for himself. He was very religious and repeatedly used sacred music for his compositions. But this concert is not only remarkable because it combines jazzy passages, big band sound and the great tradition of European church music in an ingenious way, but also because there is tap-dancing!

"Das Wichtigste, was ich in meinem Leben getan habe" - Jazz-Legende Duke Ellington ließ keinen Zweifel daran, welche Bedeutung das zweite Sacred Concert für ihn selbst hatte. Er war sehr gläubig und griff für seine Kompositionen immer wieder auch auf geistliche Musik zurück. Dieses Konzert ist aber nicht nur bemerkenswert, weil sich in ihm jazzige Passagen, Big Band-Sound und die große Tradition der europäischen Kirchenmusik auf geniale Weise miteinander verbinden, sondern weil dazu auch noch gesteppt wird!
