Charles Gounod’s Requiem, performed in Vienna in 1842, had never been published, despite the enthusiasm it aroused at the time, including that of Felix Mendelssohn. Here it is coupled with Les Sept Paroles du Christ (1867) by Théodore Dubois, another ambitious work that deserves to be more widely known.

Il Requiem di Charles Gounod, eseguito a Vienna nel 1842, non era mai stato pubblicato, nonostante l’entusiasmo con cui lo avevano accolto i suoi ascoltatori, tra i quali Félix Mendelssohn. Viene qui abbinato alle Sept Paroles du Christ di Théodore Dubois (1867), altra opera ambiziosa rimasta a torto poco nota.
