With his last two symphonies - the n. 8 in itself m “Unfinished”, made up of two movements, including–, Franz Schubert abandons the classical symphony and twins aesthetically with Beethoven in a purely romantic conception and far removed from the aesthetic movement Sturm und Drang. The Ninth Symphony well deserves the nickname "Great" for its size and for being a complex page that synthesizes present and future throughout its four movements. It was released posthumously in 1839 under the direction of Felix Mendelssohn. Schubert had died eleven years earlier.

After the Beethoven project with the versions of the nine symphonies, Jordi Savall now faces Schubert and two committed pages of German symphony at the head of Le Concert des Nations and according to philological criteria that will surely make such well-known works are new to today's listeners.

Amb les seves dues darreres simfonies –la n. 8 en si m ”Inacabada”, integrada per dos moviments, inclosa–, Franz Schubert abandona la simfonia clàssica i s’agermana estèticament amb Beethoven en una concepció netament romàntica i allunyada del moviment estètic Sturm und Drang. La Novena simfonia mereix amb escreix el sobrenom de “Gran” per la seva magnitud i per ser una pàgina complexa que sintetitza present i futur al llarg dels seus quatre moviments. Va ser estrenada pòstumament, el 1839, sota la direcció de Felix Mendelssohn. Schubert havia mort onze anys abans.

Després del projecte beethovenià amb les versions de les nou simfonies, Jordi Savall s’enfronta ara a Schubert i a dues pàgines compromeses del simfonisme germànic al capdavant de Le Concert des Nations i d’acord amb criteris filològics que de ben segur faran que obres tan conegudes resultin noves per als oients dels nostres dies.
