As part of the Eurokontext.sk festival, the SND Opera will bring you the premiere of the musical drama SIMON BOCCANEGRA and with it an epoch-making story about a man who in a corrupt society strives to maintain moral purity and unite the country destroyed by intrigue. Already on May 20 and 22, 2016 on the SND stage, directed by Martin Leginus and directed by Marián Chudovský.

The Italian opera genius was able to masterfully combine a captivating personal drama with a broader political or social context, so that he could express himself up to the world that surrounded him and to which he could not be artistically indifferent. The theme of the struggle for the unity of historically hard-pressed Italy became the defining idea of ​​several of his works. In Simon Boccanegra 's opera , she was also significantly enriched by the contradictory connection between power and price, which she usually demands on human destinies. The musical drama set in the rich Genoa impresses with its poetics of darkness, which only brightens the brighter sound and content colors for a moment. Like in Troubadour, which was created according to a dramatic model by the same Spanish author Antonio García Gutiérrez, is dominated by a stuffy and tense atmosphere and the storyless events do not allow the central protagonists to breathe for a moment until the end of the drama. Verdi reworked the original form of the work from 1857 in 1881 in collaboration with the composer and librettist Arrigo Boit, and in this version the work lives on today's opera stages.
