Músico de grande versatilidade, o violoncelista e maestro Nicolas Altstaedt foi escolhido por Gidon Kremer e por Ádám Fischer para lhes suceder, respetivamente, como diretor artístico do Festival de Música de Câmara de Lockenhaus e da Haydn Philharmonie. Nos presentes concertos, interpretará Tout un monde lointain…, concerto para violoncelo que o compositor francês Henri Dutilleux escreveu para Mstislav Rostropovich. Parafraseando no título da obra um poema de Baudelaire, Dutilleux transporta para a música um imaginário profundamente poético. Na segunda parte, Nuno Coelho dirige a Sinfonia Fantástica de Berlioz, uma das mais importantes e cativantes obras do início do período romântico.

A musician of great versatility, cellist and conductor Nicolas Altstaedt was chosen by Gidon Kremer and Ádám Fischer to succeed them, respectively, as artistic director of the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival and the Haydn Philharmonie. In the present concerts, he will perform Tout un monde lointain…, a cello concerto written by French composer Henri Dutilleux for Mstislav Rostropovich. Paraphrasing a poem by Baudelaire in the title of the work, Dutilleux transports a profoundly poetic imagery to music. In the second part, Nuno Coelho directs Berlioz's Sinfonia Fantástica, one of the most important and captivating works of the early romantic period.
