Deloris Van Cartier is a wild night singer and, despite herself, the uncomfortable witness of a murder. To protect her, the police put her away in a convent. She disguised as a nun and forced to behave that does not suit her, she will have a hard time adapting to the strict rules of behavior imposed by the very rigorous Mother Superior, but she will end up conquering everyone, transforming an out of tune choir of nuns into a musical phenomenon.

The musical is based on the 1992 film of the same name which consecrated Whoopi Goldberg in the unforgettable role of Deloris, “a nut in a nun's habit”. The original music is signed by the eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (considered one of the most famous composers of soundtracks and musicals). Alan has recreated the scorching musical atmospheres of those years ranging from soul to funk to the most famous disco hits and making Sister Act a sparkling musical comedy. The music ranges from soul, funky and 70s disco atmospheres to pure Broadway-style pop ballads.

Deloris Van Cartier è una scatenata cantante notturna e, suo malgrado, la scomoda testimone di un omicidio. Per proteggerla, la polizia l'ha rinchiusa in un convento. Travestita da suora e costretta a comportamenti che non le si addicono, farà fatica ad adattarsi alle ferree regole di comportamento imposte dalla rigorosissima Madre Superiora, ma finirà per conquistare tutti, trasformando un coro stonato di suore in un fenomeno musicale.

Il musical è tratto dall'omonimo film del 1992 che consacrò Whoopi Goldberg nell'indimenticabile ruolo di Deloris, “una pazza in tonaca da suora”. La musica originale è firmata dall'otto volte premio Oscar Alan Menken (considerato uno dei più famosi compositori di colonne sonore e musical). Alan ha ricreato le cocenti atmosfere musicali di quegli anni spaziando dal soul al funk fino alle hit disco più famose e facendo di Sister Act una frizzante commedia musicale. La musica spazia da atmosfere soul, funky e disco anni '70 a ballate pop in puro stile Broadway.
