Daniel Lozakovich returns to the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra with Dmitri Shostakovich’s virtuoso Violin Concerto No. 1. The breath-taking sound that this 23-year-old Swedish violin talent draws out of his instrument has already touched many a heart.

Daniel Lozakovich keert terug bij het Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest met Dmitri Sjostakovitsj’ virtuoze Vioolconcert nr. 1. De fantastische klank die dit Zweedse viooltalent – hij is pas 23! – uit zijn viool weet te toveren, raakte al velen in het hart.

Van Sjostakovitsj’ Vioolconcert nr. 1 naar Beethovens prachtige Zevende
Het Eerste vioolconcert schreef Sjostakovitsj ten tijde van enorme censuur in de Sovjet-Unie. De onzekere ontstaansgeschiedenis hoor je terug in de intense muziek, die rijk is aan emoties. Naast Sjostakovitsj staat er een opdrachtcompositie van Ramin Amin Tafreshi op het programma, gevolgd door de Zevende symfonie van Beethoven, waarvan onder meer het prachtige tweede deel al vele luisteraars heeft weten te ontroeren. Ook in dit werk hoor je de politieke context terug, aangezien Beethoven zich met de muziek verzette tegen de overheersing van Napoleon.

Een meeslepend programma dus, met op de bok de Nieuw-Zeelandse dirigent Gemma New, die door de Amerikaanse pers ‘een van de grootste rijzende sterren in het dirigentensterrenstelsel’ wordt genoemd. NRC roemde de wisselwerking tussen Lozakovich en het orkest al bij een vorige samenwerking, en noemde het talent van deze jonge violist ‘ongelofelijk’
