Après les trios de Schubert avec leur complice Edgar Moreau le mois dernier, Sunwook Kim et Clara-Jumi Kang se retrouvent en tête-à-tête pour un programme alliant découvertes et tube. La soirée commence avec la première des dix sonates pour piano et violon composée par Beethoven où plane encore l’esprit mozartien. Puis surgissent deux raretés : après la sonate de Respighi qui baigne dans un monde harmonique étrange et presque lunaire, place à la version chambriste du Poème opus 25 de Chausson. D’abord intitulé Le Chant de l’amour triomphant (en référence à Tourgueniev), puis Poème symphonique et finalement Poème, cette page est à l’origine un concerto pour violon et orchestre. Cette version pour piano et violon conserve toute sa brillance et cette poésie si singulière propre à Chausson. Enfin pour conclure la soirée, l’une des pièces maîtresses du répertoire pour piano et violon, la grandiose et fascinante sonate de César Franck où l’utilisation du thème cyclique si cher au compositeur donne toute son unité à l’œuvre, tout en permettant un dialogue des plus élaborés entre les deux instruments.

After Schubert's trios with their accomplice Edgar Moreau last month, Sunwook Kim and Clara-Jumi Kang find themselves one-on-one for a program combining discoveries and hits. The evening begins with the first of ten sonatas for piano and violin composed by Beethoven where the Mozart spirit still hovers. Then two rarities arise: after Respighi's sonata which bathes in a strange and almost lunar harmonic world, make way for the chamber music version of Chausson's Poème opus 25. First titled The Song of Triumphant Love (in reference to Turgenev), then Poème symphonique and finally Poème, this page is originally a concerto for violin and orchestra. This version for piano and violin retains all its brilliance and this singular poetry specific to Chausson. Finally, to conclude the evening, one of the masterpieces of the repertoire for piano and violin, the grandiose and fascinating sonata by César Franck where the use of the cyclic theme so dear to the composer gives all its unity to the work, while allowing a most elaborate dialogue between the two instruments.
