Dive into the essence of dance music with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Duncan Ward. The journey begins in the baroque era with the bewitching suite from Rameau’s ballet opera Les Indes Galantes. From there the programme moves to the 20th century with Stravinsky's unique interpretation of the baroque dance music in Pulcinella, masterfully performed by mezzo-soprano Adriana Bignagni Lesca. The adventure reaches its climax in the rich Folk Songs of Luciano Berio. The concert ends with an ode to the musicians of the future. One of the composers from the SOV Composers’ Academy adds a new ‘folk song’. Finally, several musicians from SOV Young - Flanders Symphony Orchestra’s training orchestra - join the orchestra for Ravel’s Boléro, one of the most iconic ballet scores in musical history.

Duik in de essentie van dansmuziek met het Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, onder leiding van dirigent Duncan Ward. De reis begint in de baroktijd met de betoverende suite uit de balletopera Les Indes Galantes van Rameau. Van daaruit beweegt het programma zich naar de 20ste eeuw met Stravinsky's unieke interpretatie van de barokke dansmuziek in Pulcinella, meesterlijk vertolkt door mezzosopraan Adriana Bignagni Lesca. Het avontuur vindt haar hoogtepunt in de rijke Folksongs van Luciano Berio. 

Het concert eindigt met een ode aan de musici van de toekomst. Eén van de componisten van de SOV Composers’ Academy voegt een nieuwe ‘folksong’ toe. Tot slot vervoegen enkele musici van SOV Young - het opleidingsorkest van Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen voor jongeren tussen 14 en 20 jaar - het orkest voor Ravels Boléro, één van de meest iconische balletpartituren uit de muziekgeschiedenis.

Plongez au cœur de la musique de danse avec le Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, sous la direction du chef Duncan Ward. Le voyage démarre à l'époque du baroque avec la merveilleuse suite tirée de l'opéra-ballet Les Indes Galantes de Rameau. Puis le programme avance jusqu'au XXe siècle pour Pulcinella, interprétation remarquable de la musique de danse baroque par Stravinski, magistralement chantée ici par la mezzo-soprano Adriana Bignagni Lesca. Pour finir, plusieurs musiciens du SOV Young – l'orchestre de formation du Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, s'adressant aux jeunes talents de 14 à 20 ans – viennent rejoindre l'orchestre pour interpréter le Boléro de Ravel, l'une des partitions de ballet les plus emblématiques de l'histoire de la musique.
