～Water in May～ Two great rivers that brought richness in culture～
Our chief conductor, Mo. Matthias Bamert has announced the theme for 2022 Subscription Program “Water.” And for his May Subscription, he has chosen “Water Music” and "Rhenish." It is said that Handel’s “Water Music” was written for English King who spent his leisure time on the Thames. “Rhenish” on the other hand was written from Schumann’s inspiration from the river Rhein and its surrounding scenery. Between these two music, related to two great rivers that harmonize with European culture and nature, Bamert has selected Piano Concerto No. 2, for Ms. Anne Queffélec; the piece written during Mozart’s last days. The program surely fits our beautiful May, headed to the bright summer.
