“Sometimes music has a temperature, a smell or a color,” says Kazuki Yamada. The new leader of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, together with Alice Sara Ott, presents music with infinite temperatures and shades of color: Beethoven opened the door to a new musical age with his 3rd Piano Concerto in 1803. A similar turning point was marked by Hector Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique in 1830: the young composer exuded his love for an actress in glowing colors.
