Montrealers will finally meet Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s American family, the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Known for its rich string section, the Philadelphia sound developed through many collaborations with Rachmaninoff, whose grand and epic Symphony No. 2 will be performed at this evening’s concert.

More recently, Florence Price also earned a special place in the hearts of Philadelphia musicians, who have played many of her works.

Réputé pour l’opulence de ses sections de cordes, le « son de Philadelphie » s’est développé au fil de nombreuses collaborations avec Rachmaninov, dont on entendra la grandiose et épique Symphonie nᵒ 2.

Plus récemment, Florence Price s’est elle aussi taillé une place de choix dans le cœur des musiciens de Philadelphie, qui ont interprété plusieurs de ses œuvres.
