The Telephone, or l'Amour à trois is a one-act comic opera by Gian Carlo Menotti. For the first time this title arrives at the Peralada Festival with musical direction by Iván Martín, the musical interpretations of Galdós Ensemble and the voices of soprano Ruth Giménez and baritone Jan Antem. With the production of the Musika Música festival in Bilbao, this is the first operatic project of the Bilbao actress, playwright and director María Goiricelaya, winner of a Max Prize for the Performing Arts for her adaptation of Lorca Yerma's work. In The Telephone, which can be seen in the original English version at Peralada, the Italian-American author criticizes the abuse of the telephone in personal relationships. The book tells the love story of three, between a couple and their phone. An argument that turns Menotti into quite a visionary, since the opera was premiered in 1947, and shows, in a parody, the story of Lucy and Ben, a couple in love, whose relationship becomes complicated every minute that goes by because of her phone addiction. A situation that the stage manager tackles with intelligence and a great sense of humor and that will feature a modern and up-to-date scenography. A second musical proposal after hours The night, however, also aims to be a love triangle. The performance of Menotti's opera will be followed by the Ticket To Ride: The Beatles and Bowie concert by the GIO Symphonia directed by Francesc Prat, where there will also be a summer cocktail specially prepared by Toni Gerez, head of the venue and sommelier at the Castell Peralada Restaurant, to complete an experience specially designed for the youngest with the aim of bringing opera closer to new audiences through a three-way love story
