The Wave was developed at the Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals in 2019. The Wave was written in part with support from SPACE on Ryder Farm (spaceonryderfarm.org).

In cooperation with the Music and Art (MuK) private university of the City of Vienna



The Wave was awarded five prizes at the German Musical Theater Prize 2020/2021: "Best Musical", "Best Music" (Or Matias), "Best Book" (Or Matias), "Best Director" (Christoph Drewitz) and "Best Leading actor ”(Lukas Sandmann). For the world premiere at the Landestheater Linz in May 2021, there were another 8 nominations.
