Λίγα ονόματα σημάδεψαν την πρώτη γραμμή της διεθνούς καλλιτεχνικής πρωτοπορίας του περασμένου αιώνα όσο εκείνο του Ξενάκη, ανεξάντλητου πολυδημιουργού με ευρύτατη επιρροή, που εγκατέλειψε την Ελλάδα για να εγκατασταθεί στο Παρίσι στη διάρκεια του εμφυλίου. Η επινόησή του δεν εγκλωβίστηκε ποτέ στα παραδοσιακά στεγανά που διαχωρίζουν την επιστήμη από την τέχνη ή τις τέχνες μεταξύ τους: Στη διάρκεια της πεντηκονταετίας κατά την οποία υπήρξε ενεργός, ο Ξενάκης αντιμετώπισε τη μουσική ως προνομιακό πεδίο για την έκφραση παγκόσμιων αρχών και αφηρημένων δομών, διερευνώντας τη σχέση της με άλλους τομείς της ανθρώπινης γνώσης και δραστηριότητας, όπως η φυσική και η φιλοσοφία, και εφαρμόζοντας στη σύνθεσή του διαδικασίες με καταβολές από τα στοχαστικά μαθηματικά, τη θεωρία συνόλων ή τη θεωρία παιγνίων. Παράλληλα, υπήρξε πρωτοπόρος στην εξέλιξη της ηλεκτρονικής μουσικής και συνδύασε με ρηξικέλευθο τρόπο τη μουσική με την αρχιτεκτονική σε μια σειρά από καθοριστικά πολύτεχνα έργα.
Το dissonArt ensemble παρουσιάζει ένα πρόγραμμα έργων του Ξενάκη για οργανικό σύνολο που διασκελίζει τις δύο τελευταίες δεκαετίες της παραγωγής του μεγάλου και ασυμβίβαστου δημιουργού.

Few names have marked the forefront of the international artistic avant-garde of the last century as much as that of Xenakis, an inexhaustible multi-creator of wide influence, who left Greece to settle in Paris during the civil war. His invention was never confined to the traditional barriers that separate science from art or the arts from each other: During the fifty years in which he was active, Xenakis treated music as a privileged field for the expression of universal principles and abstract structures, exploring its relationship with other fields of human knowledge and activity, such as physics and philosophy, and applying to his composition processes with origins in stochastic mathematics, set theory or game theory. At the same time, he was a pioneer in the development of electronic music, and he combined music and architecture in a radical way in a series of decisive polyphonic works.
The dissonArt ensemble presents a programme of works by Xenakis for instrumental ensemble that entertains the last two decades of the great and uncompromising composer's output.
