All lonely people. A mess of misunderstandings. "Where did I have my eyes?" Is that love at all? And who loves whom here? Wagner writes his most modern music for this. Always on the edge of harmony. Constantly on the verge of falling silent. People fall into nowhere. This is what Jochen Biganzoli's production for the Hagen Theater aims at: A house - let's call it the Villa Wesendonck. People alone in their rooms. Instead of talking to each other, they talk to themselves. Talking to themselves gives birth to monsters. With a little delay, the celebrated production finally premiered in Halle.
