In 1947, Zarah Leander celebrates her 40th birthday at her Lönö estate in Sweden. Four years before that, she was the acclaimed foreign star of UFA, but she is now unemployed and waiting in vain for birthday guests and offers. Persona non grata in Sweden, banned from working in Germany, justifies the retired, underutilized diva. Cleverly, with a lot of mother wit and without any scruples, she asserts the credo of many Nazi artists: to have known nothing.
ZARAH 47 is a furious monologue - packed with all the musical numbers that made Zarah Leander a star in Germany in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
