Born in Rochester, NY, American soprano Sara De Franco is currently living in Germany and singing as a member of the Opera Studio at the Theater Freiburg in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. In the 2023/24 season, Sara performs the roles of Papagena (Game On: Zauberflöte), April (Stephen Sondheim’s Company), A Voice from Heaven (Don Carlos), Das Taumännchen (Hänsel und Gretel), and Die Mutter in the German premiere of Die Operntode meiner Mutter with Theater Freiburg’s Junges Theater, based off the children’s book Die Tode meiner Mutter by Carla Haslbauer. She also jumped in to perform the role of Das Sandmännchen (Hänsel und Gretel). In addition to her roles at the Theater Freiburg, Sara will also sing as a guest in Theater Basel’s production of OperettAvenir alongside the singers of Theate
