1Sure: Baden is not Broadway. But what artistic director Michael Lakner does (not only) in the field of musicals deserves the highest recognition. Lakner brings pieces to the stage that are rarely or not at all heard in Austria. This now also includes the musical “Neun”, which premiered in 1982 – the singing and acting is mostly in German – as the Austrian premiere. An excavation that was more than worth it. Because "Nine" (the original title) not only won five Tony Awards back then, it was also made into a film and offers great actors a perfect platform. Raul Julia (at the premiere), Sergio Franci (on a world tour), Jonathan Pryce (in London) and Antonio Banderas (on Broadway) are just a few of the calibers who have taken on the male lead.
