Biography
Acclaimed for a voice with an expansive vocal expression, Fiona Jopson is a “gleaming soprano ripe with elegance, dynamism and flexibility”. Australian soprano Fiona Jopson has been a member of the Wiener Staatsoper ensemble since 2018, where she has sung the roles of Erste Dame (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Helmwige (Wagner: Die Walküre), Dritte Norn (Wagner: Götterdämmerung) and Dama Di Lady Macbeth (Verdi: Macbeth). In the 19/20 season she once again performed Dama Di Lady Macbeth alongside Plácido Domingo and took on the role of Griselda in Alma Deutscher’s well know opera Cinderella. In Australia, Fiona has performed major roles such as Ariadne (Strauss: Ariadne auf Naxos) conducted by Christopher Dragon, Leonora (Verdi: Il Trovatore) and Mimi (Puccini: La Boheme).
