Hitomi Kawai

The young lyric mezzo-soprano Hitomi Kawai grew up in Tokyo, Japan. Ms. Kawai completed her Bachelor of Arts in vocal performance at Tokyo University of the Arts in the class of Keizo Takahashi. She continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock where she received her Masters Degree in operatic singing under the direction of professors Fionnuala McCarthy and Janet Williams. During her studies, Ms. Kawai performed the following roles: Zita in Gianni Schicchi, Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas, Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro, Ute in Die lustigen Nibelungen, Altichiara in Francesca da Rimini.
