Internationally appreciated as a reference group for the performance of the ancient repertoire on historical instruments, under the guidance of Diego Fasolis they have inherited the Lugano chamber society founded by Edwin Loehrer.

Together with the Swiss Radio and Television Choir, in recent years he has made various concert and record productions, among which are those dedicated to Bach (Arts), considered to be of reference.

The Barocchisti have performed in major music festivals in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United States. In recent years, the artistic partnership between the orchestra and mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli has led to the birth of the multimedia project Mission (DECCA, 2012), dedicated to the rediscovery of Agostino Steffani's music and presented to the general public in a long European tour. The album won the ECHO Preis in 2013 and obtained a nomination at the 56th Grammy Awards in 2014. Again for DECCA, the Stabat Mater and the instrumental album “ Danze e Ouvertures ” by Steffani were released in 2013, later included in an exclusive box set ( “The Steffani Project "). In 2014 the recording project that includes Pergolesi's Stabat Mater (ERATO, 2013) recorded with Philippe Jaroussky and Julia Lezhneva is presented on tour in Amsterdam, Essen, Baden-Baden and Lucerne, enjoying enormous success with audiences and critics so as to win the “Best Recording of the Year” award at the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA 2014).

In 2014/15 I Barocchisti directed by Diego Fasolis recorded the album “ St. Petersburg ” (DECCA) with Cecilia Bartoli, the release of which was followed by a long and acclaimed tour in all European capitals.

In 2015 a new Vivaldian anthology with Maurice Steger (Deutsche Harmonia Mundi) was released, given in concert in Switzerland and in Europe in halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

In the operatic arena, following their first appearance at the Salzburg Pentecost Festival in 2013 and their comeback in 2014, I Barocchisti

they appear again at the Pentecost Festival and the Summer Festival in 2015 with a new production of Gluck's Iphigenia in Tauride and in concertante form in Handel's Semele .

In 2016 they toured extensively in a new revival of Bellini's Norma with Cecilia Bartoli in Monte-Carlo, Edinburgh, Paris and Baden-Baden.

In 2017 the orchestra performs with Philippe Jaroussky on a European tour in Versailles, Vienna, Dortmund, Amsterdam and Zaragoza to present the latest recording collaboration with the French countertenor, the album "The Story of Orpheus" (Warner, 2017) dedicated to Monteverdi, Rossi and Sartorio.

In the 2017-18 season I Barocchisti conducted by Diego Fasolis performed at the Vienna Musikverein in a recital with Lucia Cirillo and were orchestra in residence at the Theater de Champs-Elysées in a production of Gluck's Orpheus directed by Robert Carsen. 

In September 2018 protagonists of the first operatic performance in scenic form at the theater hall of the LAC Center in Lugano.
