Ilona Nymoen was born in Donaueschingen where she already during school time sang in a choir and got flute and pianoforte lessons. After first studies in Berlin, she went to Milan to study classical singing at the Conservatorio di Musica „Giuseppe Verdi” and later in Piacenza at the Conservatorio “Giuseppe Niccolini”. After her return to Germany, she started a solo career as Mezzosoprano with roles like: Carmen (Konstanz and Hamburg), followed by roles like: Maddalena / Rigoletto, Countess of Eberbach/ The Poacher, 3. Dame and 3. Boy/ Magic flute, Irmentraut/ The Armourer, Marcelina/ Il barbiere di Sevilla, Tisbe/ La Cenerentola, Adelaide/ Der Vogelhändler, Czipra/ Der Zigeunerbaron, Baba, the Turk/ The Rake’s progress, Mary/ The flying Dutchman, ….
