Der Tenor Ivar Gilhuus wurde in Norwegen 1955 geboren. Gesangsunterricht erhielt er u.a. bei Prof Anne Nyborg, Prof Ingrid Bjoner, Tor Gilje, Jan Sødal, Edna Sundøen und Renate Biskup. Kürzere Zeit auch bei Hovsångare Nicolai Gedda, Kammersänger Peter Seiffert, Kammersänger Rainer Goldberg, Prof Susanne Eken und Kammersängerin Helena Döse.1987-1989 und 1990-2007 war er festes Ensemblemitglied der norwegischen Nationaloper "Den Norske Opera", für die er 30 Hauptrollen gesungen hat. Sie reichten von Alfredo in La Traviata, Rodolfo, Don José über Cavaradossi, Canio, Manrico, Bacchus und Florestan bis zum Lohengrin, Erik, Walther von Stolzing und Siegmund.
