Laura Margaret Smith

Described as "a spirited young mezzo with a full, fearless voice. A name to watch" by Gramophone magazine, Scottish Mezzo-Soprano Laura Margaret Smith enjoys an exciting career performing in the UK and Europe, both as an opera singer and recitalist. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Alexander Gibson Opera School under the tutelage of Clare Shearer, she then joined Scottish Opera as the Robertson Scholarship Trust Emerging Artist 2014/15. Laura now studies with Patricia MacMahon. Laura was successful in many of the Conservatoire's competitions, including the Governor's Recital Prize, Ye Cronies Opera Prize, Frank Spedding Lieder Prize, Margaret Dick Award for singing and the Hugh Roberton Scots Song Prize and was a semi-finalist in the 2015 Kathleen Ferrier competition.
