The German baritone Ludwig Obst commenced his musical training with Gerhard Schmidt-Gaden as a member of the renowned Tölzer Boys Choir. During this time he also was heard for the first time as an operatic soloist. He has studied Voice at Berlin’s Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler with Bernd Riedel and at Guildhall School of Music and Drama London with Rudolf Piernay. During his studies, he received further tuition by Júlia Várady, Wolfram Rieger, Jeffrey Francis and Thomas Quasthoff and has taken part in masterclasses with Christine Schäfer and Angelika Kirchschlager. As a soloist he works frequently with the baroque orchestras Lautten Compagney Berlin, directed by Wolfgang Katschner and Musica Sequenza, directed by Burak Özdemir.
