Mário Branco was born in Portugal in 1986 and showed great interest in the performing arts from a young age. In 2004, parallel to his studies in dentistry, he began studying theatre in Lisbon and participated in several plays and in a short film. Being a very physical actor, he became increasingly interested in movement. From 2010 onwards, his attention shifted to dance. Still living in Lisbon, he came into contact with various styles of dance and participated in several workshops throughout Europe over the following years. In 2013, Mário joined the formation Danscentrumjette in Belgium, where he worked with David Zambrano, Fighting Monkeys and Meytal Blanaru, becoming a resident and performer in 2014.
